They are great for moving volume where water flow and availability are in short supply or the drop isn't adequate for a sluice box. I'll use a 1/2 or 1/4 inch sieve in the top of the box and run miners moss with expanded mesh in the sluice box. The angle of the sluice box is set at 10 degrees and the bilge pump will be 55 lpm.
